Since the laptop works fine on my home network, I don't think that it is the wireless adapter in the laptop. It means you are connected to your Router but there is no internet or there is internet but your computer isnt able to recieve that. You are getting message of Limited Access when you are connected to your wi-fi.

I would think that it is a problem with the wireless router, but another Windows 8 laptop + my wife's windows 7 laptop + my smartphone all connect with Answer (1 of 30): Lets try to understand the problem first. When I am looking at the connection in the 'NetworkДЄnd Sharing Center', it frequently changes from the SSID to 'unidentified network' and back. After that, it immediately changes to 'Limited'. I get prompted for a password, and for a brief time (less than a second) the network shows 'Connected'. I'm going to give HP a call again but I thought I'd come in here and see if perhaps this is related to Windows 8.1 and was hoping someone had a good solution to this problem. It worked for the remainder of the day but last night, once again, I lost my internet connection. They had me uninstall my wireless adapter and then reinstall the adapter and all software.

This has been going on for a few weeks now and normally I can get it working again when I either reboot the computer or tell it to fix my internet connection problem but I finally got fed up with this happening so I called HP two days ago. I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with my actual internet service because we have other devices in the house that will be connected to the internet when I lose my connection. Sometimes I get a message that says limited access and other times it says I'm not connected to my home network. I have an HP laptop and I too keep losing my connection to the internet through my wireless adapter.
